Lori J. Baier, 66, Minot, died Friday, September 4, 2026 in a Minot hospital.
Lori Jean Johnson was born on April 30, 1960, a daughter of James M. and Catherine "Kay" (Meyer) Johnson in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, where she graduated from Bishop Ryan Catholic School in 1978.
On January 4, 1980, Lori was united in marriage to Rodney Baier in Minot. Due to Rodney's service in the United States Air Force, they made their home at several Air Force bases throughout the world including, Travis AFB in California, Minot AFB, RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire, England, Sembach AFB in Germany, Grand Forks AFB, and eventually returning to Minot.
Alongside raising their two daughters, Tara and Abbey, Lori worked as a receiving clerk for Marketplace Foods, a receptionist at Trinity Health, and an activities director at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living until she retired for health reasons.
Lori loved reading, bowling, and camping in the great outdoors. A passionate sports fan, she loved cheering on her favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers. Above all, she cherished watching her grandchildren’s activities, frequently attending hockey games for her granddaughter, Payton, at Minot State University, and soccer games for her grandson, Taryn. She was a member of St. Therese Church of the Little Flower in Minot.
Some of Lori’s favorite memories were the simple moments spent with the people she loved. She thoroughly enjoyed cruising around in Rodney's 1981 Jeep, especially when it included a stop for ice cream. Lori will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her, including her beloved little shadow, Annie.
Lori is survived by:
Husband Rodney;
Children: Tara (Dustin) Theurer, Abbey (Travis) Olson;
Five grandchildren: Taryn (Olivia), Aydan, Payton Lang, Julian Olson, and Colin Olson;
Siblings: Kim (Les) Lee, Brenda (Tim)Baier;
Nieces and nephews;
Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Kyle, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation: Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 4 until 6 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10 am at St. Therese Church of the Little Flower, Minot.
