Minot and Plaza
Edna Mae Sailor was born on March 28, 1947, in Bismarck to Russell Sr. and Florence (Dewalt) Sailor. She was raised in Plaza and also lived in Fargo, Devils Lake, and New Town before settling in Minot.
On Monday, September 7, 2026, Edna Mae Sailor passed away with her family by her side. We said goodbye to a beautiful, strong, and independent woman who lived with curiosity, compassion, faith, and a real sense of adventure. She will be missed, but the lessons and traditions she shared will continue for generations.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Cheri Giesen (Gene) and son, Robbie Edwards (Stephanie); grandchildren, Costas Kok (Myranda), Dominique Giesen (Allison Meier), Desiree Giesen (Kirby Knutson), Dylan Rynestad (Ava), Jersey Rynestad (Aaron Hardy), and Journey Edwards; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Sailor, Carol Bomstad (Larry Schultz), and Teresa Elton (Craig); brother, Roger Sailor (Karen); sister-in-law, Lynnette Sailor; many nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Jamie Kok; sister Clara Sailor; brothers, Rusty, Pat, and Richard; nephews, Ricky and Tommy Jorgenson; and niece Michelle Sailor Singley.
Memorial Service: Sat., Sept. 26, 2026, 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (1000 3rd St. NE, Minot).
Graveside Cremains Burial: Sat., Sept. 26, 2026, 4 p.m. at East Plaza Cemetery, Plaza.
In place of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to the Minot Homeless Coalition (PO Box 1062, Minot, ND 58702).
Pastor Jeremy Meier of Grace Fellowship Church of Burlington will preside, and Grace Fellowship members will provide the fellowship meal.
