Dusty Lynn Nelson, 66, of Yuma, AZ, and Garrison, ND, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at his home.
Dusty was born on May 20, 1960, to Duane and Margaret (Durst) Nelson. He attended Surrey High school and later enlisted in the US Navy in 1978. Dusty served for two years, then lived in California for a time. He also spent time living in Arizona, Colorado, Wisconsin, Montana, and North Dakota working various jobs. He lived in Garrison, ND for two years before moving to Yuma, AZ 8 months ago.
He is survived by his parents, Duane and Margaret Nelson, Garrison; daughter Amber Justi, Redding, CA; sisters, Dana (Ross) Holbert, Valdosta, GA, Darla (Mathias) Hanson, Surrey, ND; brother, Doug (Tanya) Nelson, Donnelly, ID; sister-in-law, Pam Nelson, Warroad, MN; three grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Ann Nelson; brother, Duane "Butch" Nelson; maternal grandparents, Anna and Lansing Durst, and paternal grandparents, Florance and Carl Nelson.
A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, at 3:00 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
