Arlen Cornell Blessum, 92 of Rugby died at his home with his family nearby on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
He was born on March 30, 1934 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby to Casper and Helen (Cornell) Blessum.
On December 26, 1956 he married Charlotte Bickler and together they raised six children on their family farm near Rugby.
Arlen is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children Brian (Sue) of Rugby, Jody (Colette) of Danville, CA, Jim (Kris) of Rugby, Laura (Mike) Swanson of Rugby, Stuart of Rugby and Alan (Karleen) of Rugby; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlys (Harold) Ostrem, Diane (Herb) Mittelstedt and Lois Smutzler.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 4th at St. Therese Little Flower Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary, Vigil prayer service and sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.
