Lola Gay Hetland, 94, of Minot and formerly of rural Deering, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at her home on August 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, hard work, and deep love for her family.
Born on October 12, 1931, in Minot, North Dakota, Lola Gay Semingson was the daughter of Gilbert and Lela (Collins) Semingson. She was raised in Minot and the Deering area. She graduated from Glenburn High School with the Class of 1949.
A gifted seamstress, Lola’s hands were rarely still. She lovingly made prayer shawls for the prayer shawl ministry. Her passion for fabric led her to become a Fab-U-Lous fabric representative, hosting countless fabric parties.
Lola was blessed with four sons. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Arden (Donna) Hetland and Dennis (Patty) Hetland daughter-in-law, Pam Hetland; eight grandchildren, Jason (Denise) Hetland, Alaina (Curtis) Golen, Gerud (Michelle) Hetland, Heath Hetland (Lynette), Laura Hetland, Kristen (Jordan) Porter, Trista Hockett (Darren), and Tyler Hetland (Amanda); twenty-three great-grandchildren; McKenna, Faylin, Lyndzi, Ava, Garik, Brody, Lola, Molly, Madeline, Andrew, Lila, River, Ryan, Matthew, Jacob, Andrew, Shelden, Wyatt, Waylon, Kaden, Piper, Teegan and Tayla; her brother, Lynn Semingson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl; her sons, Ronald and Gary Hetland; her parents, Gilbert and Lela Semingson; 2 sisters, Yvonne and Clarice.
Memorial Service: Friday, August 28, 2026, 1:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: A reviewal will not be held as cremation has taken place.
Burial: A private family burial will be held in St. Olaf Cemetery of rural Deering.
