Carol J. Schalesky, 85, Minot, ND, formerly of Sawyer, ND, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Carol Jean Putney was born May 18, 1941, the first of ten children to George and Eleanor (Blevins) Putney, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Sawyer.
She was once married to Robert Palmer. They had two children, Ronald Palmer and Kenneth Palmer.
Carol spent many years cooking in restaurants. She was a very talented cook, some family favorites were Homemade Chili, Chicken Alfredo and Pot pies.
She married Marty Schalesky on July 3, 1981, in Sawyer. They made their home in Minot.
She was a member of Southside Church of the Nazarene.
She was an exceptional baker, making incredible cakes for many family and friends. She enjoyed crafting, making afghans and quilts for her family & grandchildren. She liked to watch fireworks.
Her loving family includes: husband of 45 years, Marty Schalesky; son, Ronald Palmer; grandchildren, Cody Palmer, Meagan Espeseth; great-grandchildren, Andrew Brown, Sophie Hoverson, Layne Hoverson; sisters, Alice (Lawrence) Duchscherer, Helen (Gerard) Ole; brothers, Lloyd (Cathy) Putney; sisters-in-law, Sherry Miller, and Karin (Clay) Trogdon; brothers-in-law, Dana Schalesky, and Mark (Joan) Schalesky; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Palmer; brothers, Gerald, Terry, Harold, and Dean Putney; sisters, Patricia Green and Hazel (Dale) Wolf; sister-in-law, Deb Schalesky; brothers-in-law, Walter Green, Gary Miller; Dale Wolf and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral: Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot.
Interment: Burial will take place at a later date at Sawyer Cemetery, Sawyer, ND.
Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: are preferred to Alzheimer's Society or to Marty and he will send the donations.
