Terry Byron Jevne of Lansford, ND, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. He was 80 years old.
Terry was born on July 17, 1945, the youngest child of Harry and Louise (Armstrong) Jevne in Minot, ND. He spent much of his youth in the Minot area, including the Jevne farm in Lansford. Terry was raised and educated in rural Lansford and Minot, ND.
In 1964, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country primarily aboard the USS Rupertus before his honorable discharge as Machinist's Mate Petty Officer Third Class in 1966. While overseas, Terry met his future wife Joan, to whom he married on February 9, 1966, followed by a formal wedding at the Minot First Church of the Nazarene on April 29, 1967.
Upon his naval discharge, Terry and Joan made their initial home briefly in Minot, ND and then moved to Riverton, Wyoming, where Terry worked at the Riverton Ranger newspaper and the oilfields. In 1974, Terry relocated to the family farmstead in Lansford where he and Joan raised their three children. During this time, he was employed as a tool pusher in the oil fields and worked as a truck driver and a welder, eventually working at Steven's Welding in Glenburn until 1995 and Minot Air Force Base until his retirement in 2012.
Throughout his life, Terry enjoyed all types of automobiles, motorcycles, and airplanes. He could frequently be found on the farm working on engines or car projects. When not working on cars, he could talk about them at length to anyone who would listen. He was a member of the Corvette Club, the Dakota Cruisers, and the Minot area chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Terry also loved music and enjoyed playing trombone, violin, and plucking out chords on the piano. More recently, he became an avid pickleball player both in Lansford and at his winter home in Brownsville, TX. For much of his life, Terry attended Home Church of the Nazarene, formerly Minot First Church of the Nazarene, the same church where he and Joan were married.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years Joan, his son Jon (Cher) Jevne of Paola, KS, his daughters Priscilla Jevne of Minot, ND, and Patricia (Tash) Smith of Salina, KS, his grandchildren Maren Smith, Braeden Jevne, Amos Smith, Lily Jevne, Jezavene Arbogast, Zeni Smith, Decker Smith, Lincoln Smith, Reece Jevne, and Quincy Smith, his sister-in-law Ellen Jevne, and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Harry and Louise (Armstrong) Jevne, brother Gene Jevne, brother Don Jevne and sister-in-law Sue Jevne, and sister Vallie Ann Holmgren and brother-in-law Dennis Holmgren.
