Linda Rae (Duerre) Erickson

Feb. 20, 1947-July 2, 2026

Bowbells

Linda Rae (Duerre) Erickson, 79, of Bowbells, ND, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Tioga Medical Center.

Linda was born February 20, 1947, to Reuben and Lola (Shaver) Duerre at the Kenmare Deaconess Hospital. She was raised on the family farm near Norma with her younger brothers, Warren and Wallace. Linda attended the Norma school until 8th grade and then graduated in 1965 from Kenmare High School.

Linda married Morris Erickson on February 14, 1967, on the date of her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. Their journey led them to Grand Forks and Tioga while Morris was teaching. At that time, they felt a calling to go into children’s ministry and eventually moved to the family farm near Bowbells. Together Morris and Linda built a home centered on their faith in Christ and raised four children, Tana, Tracey, Laura and Todd.

Linda embraced her role as wife, mother and grandmother, and she had a way of making sure each one felt loved, cared for and was given a treat. Linda had a remarkable gift of hospitality as their home was a place where family, friends and even strangers were greeted with an open door and a place at the table. She even took this on road by driving the Souris Basin Transit and loved taking her people on trips. Linda’s fun sense of humor overflowed in her contagious laugh, and she often had a prank up her sleeve.

Linda’s greatest joy was serving the Lord by serving others. This was very evident in her heart for children. She stepped into her role of camp cook and became Mama Linda to so many during the four decades that she and Morris were part of Child Evangelism Fellowship. They worked side by side in this ministry as well as serving in their church and with the Good News Quartet.

Even when life took a turn down the road of Alzheimer’s, Linda’s loving heart and her laughter carried on. Music was a big part of her life, and although her memory faded, the songs remained. Linda and Morris continued serving the Lord together, but it would simply look a little different.

Though her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in the countless lives she touched for the Lord and in the enduring legacy of love, hospitality and selfless service she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Morris Erickson; her children, Tana (Marv) Janzen, Tracey (Tim) Houck, Laura (Gerald) Muizelaar, and Todd (Kim) Erickson; her brother, Warren (Pam) Duerre; her grandchildren, Thomas (Jessica) Janzen, Benjamin (Sarah) Janzen, Hannah Janzen, Carter (Delaney) Houck, Amber Houck, Drew Houck, Taylor (Seth) Towers, Ryan Muizelaar, Rianna Muizelaar, Mason Muizelaar, Caleb (Delaney) Erickson, Noah Erickson, Elijah Erickson, Kenzie Erickson and Kiah Erickson; her great-grandchildren, Rowan Janzen, Mckenna Janzen, Jocelyn Houck and Micah Delano Erickson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Lola Duerre; parents-in-law, Christ and Helen Erickson; brother, Wallace Duerre; and grandson Micah Robert Erickson.
