George Alfred Beaumont, 84, of Niles, Michigan, died on July 20, 2026.
George was born to Rex E. and Fannie E. (Williams) Beaumont in Mason, Michigan, Feb. 2, 1942. He claimed for years that growing up doing chores and working on the family farm was better than any weight training program. This conditioning helped him become a two-way starter for the Leslie High School football team. He was also active in Future Farmers of America and 4-H, earning numerous awards for showing animals and other exhibits, at county and state fairs. He graduated from Leslie High School with honors, in 1960.
George attended Alma College in Alma, Michigan, where he became a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and played center on the football team. It was at Alma where George met the love of his life, Delilah Jane Hall (Dee).
In 1964, he left Alma to serve his country in the United States Air Force (USAF); after basic training, he and Delilah were married on December 27, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Soon after, they deployed to Sembach AFB in West Germany, where he served with the 823rd Tactical Missile Squadron (TAC), under the 38th Tactical Missile Wing. In fall of 1966, George and Dee were transferred to Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.
George spent the remainder of his Air Force career in Minot with the 91st Strategic Missile Wing (SAC). He served as the unofficial mascot for the 91st. Known as the Roughriders, the wing traveled to competitions with George dressed as Teddy Roosevelt. BULLY!
George retired from the USAF, as Senior Master Sergeant, on November 30, 1986. He enrolled at Minot State University to renew his teaching certification. George obtained two degrees in mathematics and computer science. Building on his original degree in psychology, he also earned a 3rd degree in addiction counseling, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
George went on to teach math and computer courses at South Prairie School and later at Bishop Ryan Catholic School in Minot. He served in various roles at the high school, including the sponsor for the Key Club and announcer/statistician for basketball and wrestling. He was a longtime Mason and enjoyed being involved with various related organizations, including Shriners, Order of the Eastern Star (OES), York Rite, Scottish Rite, and others. He also relished service-based roles, including performing as “BeeGee the Clown” with the Shriners. He and Dee liked to square dance, and he served as an elder, deacon, and worship leader at the First Presbyterian Churches in Minot and Niles.
George also loved the outdoors and spent decades hunting, fishing and golfing. He even served many years as the course marshal at Minot AFB golf course.
After his retirement in 2004, George and Dee moved to Niles, which they referred to affectionately as "going home." In retirement, they enjoyed travel, including memorable trips to Alaska, the Arctic Circle, the Panama Canal, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. They also traveled the United States as Grand Representatives of the OES, serving both North Dakota and Michigan Chapters. He loved meeting new people as part of these trips.
At home, George played bridge weekly at the Niles Senior Center and looked forward to the bridge column in the daily newspaper. In February 2025, George moved to Wellbrooke of South Bend, where he quickly found his place in a new community. He lent his voice as an advocate for other residents, enjoyed playing bingo, and nurtured his artistic side with painting projects, which now hang in the homes of his family as a reminder of his buoyant spirit.
George is survived by Dee, his wife of 61 years; children Andrew (Mary) Beaumont and Elizabeth Beaumont; grandchildren Courtney Beaumont, Kassandra (Sean) Szuberski, Caleb Dudley, Josh (Baylea) Dudley, and Abbey Beaumont; great-grandchildren Bonnie Anne Dudley and Andrea Rose Szuberski; sister Rexanne Beaumont; brothers-in-law Alan Hall and Frank (Cathy) Kapugia; and cousins Ronald Brock and Roberta Brock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister Marlene Kapugia.

Services for George will be held on Thursday, July 30, at First Presbyterian Church, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m., until the time of service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Fisher House Foundation – Helping Military Families (www.fisherhouse.org), Shriners Hospital for Children (www.shrinerschildrens.org) or a charity of your choice.
