Ethel was born on December 14, 1938, near Martin, ND. She was the oldest daughter of Reinhold and Edna Feickert. She attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse near the family farm, south of Martin. Ethel graduated from Harvey High School in 1956. She then graduated from secretarial school at Capital City Commercial College in Bismarck in 1957. She then married Wade Wallin on June 28, 1958. Ethel worked for the Target Corporation for more than 20 years, first starting as a cashier, followed by switchboard operator at the Target Store in Coon Rapids, MN. Later she worked as a secretary in loss-prevention at the Target Distribution Center in Finley, MN and subsequently retired from there in 1997.

Ethel was a great cook, and the entire family loved her cooking. At family get-togethers, she usually prepared enough food to feed a small army, despite the relatively small size of her family. She loved doing crossword puzzles - a habit she picked up many decades ago when she was young and continued until shortly before her passing. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Susan Bakey of Mason City, IA, sons, Tracy Wallin of Otsego, MN, James Wallin of Roseville, MN; sisters, Diane Brose of Deming, NM, Carol Warkenthein of Golden Canyon, AZ; granddaughters, Erica Starkovich of Monticello, MN, Samantha Beckensten of Blaine, MN; great-granddaughter, Keira Starovich of Monticello, MN.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wade Wallin, brothers, Wesley and James Feickert.
