Darcy Johnson, 71, Minot, ND, passed away at Trinity Hospital, Minot.
Darcy Wayne Johnson was born February 2, 1955, the son of Bloyd and Naomi (Edwardson) Johnson, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1973. Following high school, he attended Minot Business College and Minot State College. He graduated from Wahpeton State College with an Industrial Engineering degree.
Darcy was a Safety Engineer. He first worked rebuilding the minuteman missiles in Missouri. Next came a nuclear power plant in Illinois. He then worked in Tucson, AZ for Pima County government for 25 years until his first retirement. He worked in the great oil boom of North Dakota until his second retirement. For his last job, his third retirement, he worked Civil Service at the Minot Air Force Base.
He was once married to Cindy Gaines. They were blessed with two children, Morgan Christina and Dustin Lee.
He married Julie Ommedal, the love of his life, on March 4, 1989. They made their home in Tucson, AZ for 25 years prior to relocating to Watford City, ND for 12 years. They were living in Minot, ND at the time of his death. They were blessed with two children, Joran Sophia and Reese Owen.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Darcy was the baby of the family. He grew to be tall and strong, with a huge presence and a clever and witty personality. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
His loving family includes: wife of 37 years, Julie; children, Morgan (Josh) Buchanan, Dustin (Hannah) Johnson, Joran Johnson, Reese (Avery) Johnson; grandchildren, Cory Douglas, Faith Johnson, Owen Johnson, Jackson Eskew, Audrey Baker, Sam Baker; great-grandchildren, Caison Douglas, Everleigh Baker; brother, Wade (Jackie) Johnson; sisters, Penny Johnson, Delpha Harper; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral: Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Prayer Service: Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Memorials: are preferred to the Salvation Army or Dakota Hope Clinic.
