Bruce A. Savelkoul – 72, Minot, formerly of Lansford, ND was called to his heavenly home on July 3, 2026 in his home, with his loving family at his side, after fighting pancreatic cancer for months.
Bruce Allen Savelkoul was born on August 12, 1953, a son of Donald and Audrey (Maxton) Savelkoul in Minot, ND. He was raised on the family farm near Lansford, ND, where he graduated from Glenburn High School in 1972.
On October 15, 1976, Bruce was united in marriage to Anna Marie Johnson. To this union two children were born, Angie and Brock. The couple later divorced.
Bruce worked various careers during his lifetime, including driving truck for Magic City Beverage, Concrete Mobile, Souris Valley Ready Mix, LaFarge, was in sales at Savelkoul Ford in Mohall, ND and was a Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer.
He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot and the National Rifle Association.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. He enjoyed many hours hunting in the North Dakota Badlands alongside his son Brock, son-in-law Rusty and grandson Devin. This is also where Bruce assisted Brock, who harvested a trophy Mule deer. Bruce was also very close to his daughter and lovingly called her “Molly.” He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting ground hogs, attending gun shows, loved his Barracuda 383, and spending time with his grandchildren. He would support his children and grandchildren every opportunity he could.
Bruce is survived by: daughter Angie (Rusty) Heinze; grandchildren: Devin Heinze, DeAnna Heinze, Stella Savelkoul; siblings: Stanley (Linda) Savelkoul, Scott (Myra) Savelkoul, JoAnne Kirk, Carolyn (Pete) Pedersen, Vickie Savelkoul, Cindy Savelkoul. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Bruce was preceded in death by: his son Brock on May 9, 2025; his parents Donald and Audrey Savelkoul; brothers Henry, Kenny, Brian Savelkoul; and former wife Anna Marie Savelkoul.
Visitation: Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 6 p.m. in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 10, 2026, 11 a.m., Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed on Bruce webpage on the funeral home website.
