Anthony Voeller

June 26, 1950-July 5, 2026

Minot

Anthony J. Voeller was born on June 26, 1950, in Rugby, ND, the 4th of 5 children born to Frank M. and Rose (Bertsch) Voeller. Tony lived in Fillmore, ND, before attending high school at Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND, graduating in 1968. He remembered the tough courses, good friends, track, football, and learning to swear in Latin as highlights.

He came to Minot and started college in the fall of 1968, a year partly interrupted by the flood in the spring of 1969. He joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and made many life-long friends, and he was forever proud to be a TKE. He had service in the ND Army National Guard and was a Reservist.

Tony took his elementary education degree to Des Lacs-Burlington as a 6th grade teacher for 7 years before starting his career as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2012 after 32 years of service. He loved his postal community, both coworkers and patrons.

Tony married Kelly Haugen on August 23, 1986, and they made their home in Minot. Together they enjoyed a little travel, with Duluth and the Montana mountains being favorites, also golf, bingo, and Tony played softball for many years and was a league bowler for more than 40 years. He loyally cheered for his Minnesota Twins and the Vikings.

Recent health challenges caused mobility issues that kept him close to home the past several years.

Tony continued to find happiness in many things, proof that cancer can’t suck all the joy out of life. Tony lived 76 years before his death at home on July 5th, 2026, with Kelly by his side. His burden is lifted!

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kelly; sister Terri (Gerry) Jacobson, Rugby; brother Jerry Voeller, Honolulu, HI; sisters-in-law Carmen (Jim) Dolbeare, Willow City, and Kim (Vaughn) Fiskum, Minot; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law John and Carol Haugen; sister Betty Nazarian; brother Daniel Voeller; brother-in-law John Haugen Jr.; as well as some darn fine cats.

Per Tony’s wishes, there will be no services. His cremains will be interred at the ND Veterans Cemetery at a future date.

Tony was a supporter of Minot State University, and the Western North Dakota Veterans Honor Flight.

Memorials may be offered to a charity or group of your choice. He would be grateful.
