Val Hettich

New Town

Val Jean Hettich, 95, of New Town, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 8, 2026, at a Minot hospital.

She was born in Nebraska, to Lawrence and Blanche (Stafford) Sheets. She married Benjamin Hettich in 1956, and they made their home in New Town; Ben passed away in 2023. She was a special person who touched the lives of many through her extensive teaching career. She radiated patience and kindness.

She is survived by her children, children, Ryan Hettich (Nancy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Marci Hettich of Longmont, CO, Lisa Thelen of New Town, and Royce Hettich of Beulah; grandchildren, Ben (Candace), David (Andrea), and Ted Hettich; Jennifer Brandly and Sara Shaylie; William and Michael Thelen, Casandra Ellingson (Spencer); Kammie White Bear, Chelsea, Jesse, Jett, Kalvyn, and Champ Hettich; two sisters; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial Service: Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Edwin Loe Elementary School Gymnasium, New Town

Inurnment: Monday, June 29, 2026, at 2 p.m. at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan
