Barbara “Barb” Jane Glessing, 77, Mohall, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at a Minot hospital.

She was born April 6, 1949, in Minot, to Palmer “Speed” and Hazel (Eldred) Asheim. She was raised in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1968. She attended Beauty School in Minot before moving to Minneapolis where she worked at Dayton’s and Hennepin County Social Services. She moved to Fargo and worked at Welu Dental Lab.

Barb was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Glessing on July 20, 1974, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall. The couple made their home in Fargo where they were blessed with a son, Paul, and daughter, Katie. They moved to Mohall in 1978 where they raised their family and farmed.

Barb was active in the Mohall community. She was a member and volunteer at Zion Lutheran Church in Mohall and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a faithful Yellowjacket, following in her dad’s footsteps, supporting Mohall High School athletics during her children’s school years and several years following. She continued to enjoy watching her grandchildren’s sports and activities as they grew older, attending games in person when possible and watching online when she couldn’t be there. She also enjoyed playing card games, dominos or any other game they were up for, but gin was her first choice. Barb had several friends whom she enjoyed visiting, for coffee and playing cards, as well.

Barb was kind and generous to all who met her, she always offered a smile and had an infectious laugh. She loved with her whole heart, and her family and friends were her everything.

Family: Husband of 51 years, Gene Glessing, Mohall; son, Paul (Emma) Glessing, Mohall; daughter, Katie (Brock) Laskowski, Minot; grandchildren, Kayla Desjardins, Elli Laskowski and Henry Laskowski; brother-in-law, Jerry Fisher, Albertville, Minn.; nieces, Jodi Pautzke, Elk River, Minn., and Amy Graves, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Alan) Olson, Westminster, Calif., and Bonnie Skar, Fargo; brothers-in-law, Terry (Cindi) Glessing, Audubon, Minn., and Gary (Pam) Glessing, Fargo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barb was preceded in death by: Her parents; sister, Sandy Fisher; father- and mother-in-law, Lyle and Lucille Glessing; brother-in-law, Sonny Skar; and nephew, Jacob Skar.

Celebration of Life: 2 pm., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall. Friends may sign the guestbook two hours prior to the service at the church, or the online guestbook at brosefuneralhome.com.
