Louise Miller, 93, Minot and formerly of rural Sawyer and Burlington died peacefully on May 1, 2026 in a Bismarck hospital with family at her side.

Louise Ardelle Checkwick Miller was born on July 29, 1932 in Minot, ND to Carl and Angelette (Eberhardt) Checkwick. She was raised and educated in the Sawyer, ND area and graduated from Drake High School in 1949. She continued her education at Minot Teachers College for one year.

Louise married Arnold Miller on January 16, 1951 in Minot. They made their home in Drake until 1954, Minot until 1956, Burlington from 1956 – 1976 and rural Sawyer from 1976 – 2003 when they moved to Minot where she since had lived. As a young adult, Louise was employed as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell, then as a full-time wife, mother and homemaker prior to earning her real estate license in 1980. She was employed as a real estate agent by Watne Realtors until she retired in 2005. Arnold died on March 13, 2016, but Louise had continued to reside in Minot.

Louise was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church – Minot where she was active in the quilting group. She was a former member of the Des Lacs Methodist Church, Minot Board of Realtors, a local homemakers club and PTA. She especially enjoyed showing horses, traveling, sewing, reading, gardening, especially flowers and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Louise’s loving family includes her sons: Charles (Diane) Miller of rural Sawyer and James (Debra) Miller of Glasston, ND; son-in-law: Kevin Iverson of Mansfield TX; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several cousins.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter: Laurie.

A family Celebration of Life will be held later in Vincent United Methodist Church in Minot. Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
