Terrance G Reese of Plaza, ND was born August 18, 1955, to Galen and Nettie (Lazier) Reese in Minot, ND. Terry went home unexpectedly to be with the Lord on April 7, 2026, at the young age of 70.

Terry attended school in Plaza, ND, where he fell in love with his beloved wife, Julane (Ashley) Reese. They were married in Plaza on August 31, 1974. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last year. Terry and Julie welcomed two children, Rebecca on January 29, 1975, and Daniel on September 7, 1977.

Terry always had a curious mind and would tear into anything with a motor and put it back together just to see if he could. His life was about making a living for his family. He loved his dad’s custom combining business and was his right-hand man until 1974. During the winter of 1973, he tried a little bit of life in Wyoming, but Plaza was his true and steadfast home. From 1973 to 1999, he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Company in Plaza, ND. During that time, he wore many hats and eventually became manager. He continued his employment by hauling fuel for CHS transport, spraying for the PMEE, helping Wayne Olson during harvest season, and running his own business, D&T Landscaping.

Terry spent many years managing the Plaza water and sewer department, moving mountains of snow, and maintaining streets.

Terry was a volunteer with the Plaza Fire and Rescue Squad starting in 1973 and became fire chief in 1979, a position he held until 2019. During his time of service, he was awarded a lifetime membership from the North Dakota Firefighters Association.

Terry was a City Council member from 1988 through 2013. In 2013, he became Mayor and held the position until his passing. He was an active board member of the Mountrail County Housing Authority and the Plaza Senior Citizens. There was nothing he would not do for his hometown of Plaza.

Terry was a dog lover, an avid fisherman, and loved to hunt. He spent many hours driving around with his dogs. There are too many stories to share here, but his family was his most valuable asset.

Terry is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter Rebecca (Farren) Wold of Parshall and grandchildren, Trevor (Natalie), Victoria (Kyle), and great-grandbaby, Wenslow; son, Daniel (Tracy) Reese of Sidney, MT and grandchildren, Terry (Naomi) and Shelby; sister, Kaylen (Gary) Nordloef of Stanley and nephews Benjamin and Christopher (Whitney) and their 5 children; brother, John (Colleen) Reese, of Bismarck and nephews, Jamie (Mikayla) and their 3 children, Mitchell (Nyamka) and their child; brother, Bradley (Barbara) Reese of Stanley and nephew, Randal; sister-in-law, Vickey Ashley of Glenburn, ND; aunt, Jeaneane Myhre of Beulah, ND; and numerous cousins. Terry was also expecting two additional great-grandbabies coming soon. He will be greatly missed and loved.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Galen and Nettie Reese; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Clara Reese; maternal grandparents, John and Margaret Lazier; parents-in-law, William and Mildred Ashley; and brothers-in-law, Michael and David Ashley.

Memorial Service: Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Plaza.

Memorials are preferred to the Plaza Fire Department or the East Plaza Cemetery.
