Ronald A Mehlhoff, of Minot, ND, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at Trinity Nursing Home of Natural Causes.

Ronald was born on February 25, 1942, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Morken) Mehlhoff in New Rockford, North Dakota.

Ronald was united in marriage to Sandra Jordan on February 15, 1965, in Fargo, ND. The couple made their home in Minot, where they raised four daughters, Ronelle, Rodelle, Debbie, and Ronni.

Beginning in 1974, Ronald dedicated many years of service to the Minot Park District and Roosevelt Park Zoo. His responsibilities were varied and essential to the maintenance and enjoyment of the city’s recreational spaces. Ronald helped build and repair playground equipment, as well as tennis courts and benches, ensuring that all Minot parks remained safe and welcoming for families and visitors.

In addition to his maintenance duties, Ronald was the heavy equipment operator for the zoo. He had a significant role in repairing animal exhibits, directly contributing to the well-being of the zoo’s residents and the quality of the facilities.

During the winter months, Ronald played an important role in maintaining the ice rinks and warming houses located at the schools throughout Minot. His efforts ensured these facilities remained safe and enjoyable for families and children.

In his retirement, Ron was employed with Job Service to clean their office building and the NDAD Bingo Hall.

Ron’s hobbies included gun collecting, hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR races. He was a proud lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan. He and his wife, Sandy, enjoyed watching and cheering on the Minnesota Twins.

Ron was also an important part of his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives, and they will miss him dearly.

Preceding Ron in death are his wife of 56 years, Sandy, son Richard, 2 infant daughters, Robin and Sonja, parents, and brothers, John and Jack.

Survivors include his daughters, Ronelle Mehlhoff, Maddock, ND, Rodelle Mehlhoff (Lee), Janesville, MN, Debbie Westwood, Minot, ND, Ronni (Bill) Whetham, Berthold, ND; Grandkids, Lee (Stacy) Wheeler, San Tan Valley, AZ, Amanda (Cody) Mace, Lansford, ND, Lacy Westwood, Minot, ND, Justin Whetham, Berthold, ND, Britni (Johnathon) Fischer, Driscoll, ND, Jarett (Erin Keeth), Williston, ND, Jayden Jones, Janesville, MN; Great grandkids, CJ, Levi, and Wyatt Mace, Remi, and Rhett Whetham; 2 brothers, Leon (Ruth) West Fargo, ND, Dennis (Laurie Thiele), Fargo, ND; 3 sisters, Nancy (Roger) Holmcomb, Mentor, MN, Mary (Jay) Dunham, West Fargo, ND, Phyllis (David) Pierce, Sidney, MT, Rhonda Heer, New Rockford.

Ronald’s visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

His burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford, N.D.
