Louise Rystedt, 98, of Stanley, ND (formerly of Powers Lake, ND), passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Mountrail County Medical Center in Stanley, ND.

Louise was born on August 31, 1927 in Powers Lake, ND to Nels Louis and Madge Ruth (Sipe) Mollgaard. She attended country school by Powers Lake.

She married Walter Rystedt on November 24, 1944 in Sidney, MT. They lived on the family farm by BattleView. To this union three children were born, David, Michael and Ladelle. Louise was postmaster at the BattleView Post Office for 31 years. She retired in 1989. Louise was very active at Bethel Lutheran serving on church council, quilting, and WELCA. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing, attending family sporting events and watching the NBA on TV. She was an excellent cook/baker and her grandchildren have fond memories of her fresh buns and pear sauce. Walter passed on December 23, 1980. Shortly after Louise moved into Powers Lake where she lived until 2021. At that time, she moved into Assisted Living. She very much enjoyed living at Rosen Place in Stanley where she loved the staff and made many new friends. Those who shared in her life; Mike (Cheryl) Rystedt, Minot, Ladelle (Tim) Lucy, Powers Lake; daughter-in-law, Eloise Rystedt, Powers Lake; grandchildren, Joni (Pete) Honrud, Bismarck, Nicki (Ken) Maruskie, Battleview, Chris (Chandra) Rystedt, Powers Lake, Amy (Charles) Junas, Minot, Jennifer (John) Melland, Fargo, Jill (Kurtis) Foote, Fargo, John (Karen) Lucy, Kenmare, Anne (Jesse) Puckett, Powers Lake, Katie (Shawn Cote) Lucy, Tioga, Jeanie Lucy, Powers Lake; granddaughter-in-law, Roberta (Rystedt) Helseth; 38 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; sister, Carol Holmen, Powers Lake; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son, David; grandson, Craig Rystedt; great granddaughter, Alyssa Rystedt; her parents; brothers, Jens Wesley Mollgaard and Marvin Mollgaard; sister, Florence Tande; and father and mother-in-law, Alex and Elydia Rystedt; brothers-in-law, Willie Tande, Manley Holmen, Roy Rystedt, Willie Rystedt, Harvey Rystedt and Otto Tande; sisters-in-law, Mable Mollgaard, Florence Rystedt, Arlene (Rystedt) Overlee.

There will be a public visitation held at the Springan Stevenson Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026. There will be a public Family Service held at the church prior to the Funeral Service starting at 12PM. Louise’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Battleview, ND. Pauline Crowder will officiate. Louise will be laid to rest at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Battleview, ND.
