Joyce Martinsen, 90, Minot, formerly of Burlington, ND, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at a Minot assisted living facility.

Joyce was born on April 16, 1935 in Ward County, ND, to Mike and Alice (Artmenko) Baklenko. She was raised on the family farm in McLean County with her three younger sisters.

Joyce married Leland Martinsen on November 24, 1963, at Great Stone Baptist Church in rural Benedict, ND. In 1973, the couple welcomed the birth of their son, Christopher. The family purchased a home in Burlington in 1976, where Joyce would live until declining health forced her to move into an assisted living facility in 2023.

Joyce is survived by her son, Christopher Martinsen, Portland, OR; grandchildren, Leland and Viktor Martinsen; a sister, Vicky Brown, Burlington, ND; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Martinsen; parents, Mike and Alice Baklenko; and sisters, Betty Early and Ginny Babb

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church in Minot. Burial will follow at Great Stone Russian Cemetery in rural Benedict.
