Joann M. Tanberg, 85, Minot, ND, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at a Minot Hospital.

Joann M. Duwenhoegger was born June 11, 1940, a twin daughter of Alois and Mae (Dolezal) Duwenhoegger, in Breckenridge, MN. She was raised and educated in Wahpeton, ND, where she attended St. John’s Elementary School and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1959. Joann furthered her education by attending the North Dakota State College of Science, where she earned her degree to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

On September 29, 1962, Joann was united in marriage to David Tanberg in Wahpeton, ND. In 1963, they moved to Minot, ND, where Joann was a homemaker, and assisted her husband with the daily operations of Plains Electric. She owned and operated a snack honor box business distributing to various businesses in the Minot area. David died July 20, 2005. Following his death she continued to live in Minot.

Joann was a devout Catholic and could often be found attending Mass at one of the local parishes. She was active with the food pantry, Bible study, birthday club, and enjoyed gardening.

Joann is survived by her children: David (Sandra) Tanberg, Lynne (Lawrence) Tanberg-Reski, Terri (Matthew) Brasel; six grandchildren: Kristina, Kari, Carter, Colin, Christian and Kaylee; sister: Marian Haug; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and twin sister Diann Novacek.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Therese, Church of the Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, April 20, 2026 from 4 until 5 pm at St. Therese, Church of the Little Flower, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service: Monday, April 20, 2026 at 5 pm at St. Therese, Church of the Little Flower, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Joann’s memory to Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry or Bishop Ryan Catholic School.
