Jeanette Marie (Korgel) Bayne, 72, passed away in Yuma, Arizona, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Jeanette was born on November 23, 1953, in Minot, North Dakota, to Maynard and Helen (Bloms). She attended Eureka Rural School and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 1971.
Following high school, Jeanette worked as a waitress for three years before marrying Bobby Bunyard in 1974. Together they opened Bobby’s donut shop in Minot, where Jeanette mastered the art of donut making and became known for her exceptional cake and cookie decorating. Her warm personality and love for meeting new people made her a natural in customer service and a trusted creator of custom treats for every occasion.
Jeanette and Bobby welcomed their daughter, Shallah, on February 2, 1977. Jeanette carried the deep grief of losing Shallah, who passed away on January 1, 2007, yet continued to show resilience and strength throughout her life.
She spent many years working at Schatz Crossroads Truck Stop and Café before moving to Fargo, where she managed the Iron Skillet Restaurant at the Petro Stopping Center. In 2009, she married Glen Bayne, and the two built a life marked by hard work, partnership, and shared adventures. Jeanette later transitioned into retail management with CJ Banks Women’s Wear, first in Fargo and then in Minot after Glen took a position in the oil fields. The couple returned to Fargo in 2021, where Jeanette worked part-time at the Dolly Down before retiring to Yuma in 2023.
Jeanette faced her cancer diagnosis with determination and grace. In March, she entered hospice care. On April 2, her beloved husband Glen was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident, a loss that weighed heavily on her already fragile health.
Jeanette will be remembered for her creativity, her work ethic, her kindness, and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her work, her friendships, and her unwavering love for her family.
Jeanette is survived by her sister Diane Schatz; her brother Lyle (Nancy) Korgel; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
At this time, no service is planned.
