Lois Lavonne Kupser, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 10, 2026, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Lois Lavonne Thom was born March 26, 1938, the daughter of Bernhardt “Ben” and Frieda (Amon) Thom, in Upham. She was raised on the family farms with her siblings in the Upham, Granville and Minot areas.

Lois was first married to Weslie R Vannett. They were blessed with and so proud of their three daughters, Terri, DeeAnn, and Kathy. Lois later married Tony Kupser and he brought three special children Penny, Randy and Cindy.

Lois was always an extremely dedicated and hard worker and spent her career working for Roger Ward at the North American Van Lines agency in Minot. Following that she worked for Roger managing the Crafters Mall and lastly worked with all her lady friends at Herbergers before retiring. Outside of work she loved being a homemaker and caring for her husband Tony. She attended Christ Lutheran Church.

Lois is survived by her family including daughters, Terri (Marlowe) Johnson Minot, DeeAnn (Art) Hansen Cheyenne, WY, and son-in-law, Jeff Smith Temecula, CA. Her grandchildren include, Matthew (Michelle) Johnson, Casey (Jennifer) Johnson, Kandice Hansen, Alex (Blake) Schmoll, Eric (Jaz) Smith, Victoria Smith along with 8 great-grandchildren. Tony’s family includes, Penny Kupser, Randy (Nikki) Kupser and Cindy Geahry. The grandchildren include, Kayla (Michael) White, Erica (Cody) Kupser, CJ (Meghan) Kupser, Ashtyn (Neal) Pastick and Darrin Geahry along with 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony in 2024; daughter, Kathy in 2022; parents, Ben and Frieda; brothers, Clifford (Ann) Thom, Harley (Helen) Thom, Willard (Janice) Thom, Clayton (Myra) Thom, Sheldon (Caroline) Thom; sister, Violet (Bill) Gartner; infant sister, Dixie and infant brother, Otto.

Memorial Service: Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Lunch and refreshments will follow.
