Janelle Kuhnhenn, 70, Towner, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Trinity Hospital.
Janelle Kaye Grondahl was born June 14, 1955, the daughter of Maurice and Lorraine (Johnson) Grondahl, in Minot, ND. She was raised on the family farm north of Granville and graduated from Granville High School. She furthered her education by attending Minot College of Business for two years in business management. She worked for five years in the dietary department at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Janelle married Mark Kuhnhenn on June 7, 1980. They made their home on Mark’s family ranch, taking over operations in 1987.
Over the years, Janelle took on various jobs but the job she loved the most was raising her kids and being the “ranch CEO”. That was her title via dad! Janelle was a devoted and caring mother and grandmother. Her favorite part of her life was being a grandma to her three grandchildren. She very rarely missed any of their events and was there anytime they needed her. Janelle enjoyed living and spending time on the ranch with her daughter, Ashley. She spent countless hours taking care of her. Family was her number one priority. Mark passed away November 27, 2021.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Granville, and the North Dakota Stockman’s Association.
Her loving family includes: children, Shawn (Patti) Kuhnhenn, Ashley Kuhnhenn; grandchildren, Carlie Kuhnhenn, Cambrie Kuhnhenn, and Dayton Kuhnhenn; brother, Darin Grondahl; sister, Karen (Ralph) Kuhnhenn; brothers-in-law, Tim (Diane) Kuhnhenn, Jim (Brenda) Kuhnhenn, Donnie (Julie) Kuhnhenn, Todd (Marcy) Kuhnhenn, Darin (Rhonda Nelson) Kuhnhenn; sisters-in-law, Faye (Richard) Hoffart, Patricia Kuhnhenn; along with many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, Mark; infant brother, Kerry and brother, Jerome; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Angie Kuhnhenn; brother-in-law, Daryl Kuhnhenn.
Funeral: Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, Granville.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Granville.
