Carol K. (Kathleen) Hanson, 85, of Kenmare, ND, passed away on March 14th, 2026.
Carol was born on March 27th, 1940, to David and June (Landis) Albrecht. She was the oldest of five sisters. Throughout her childhood, Carol and her family moved to many states but ultimately returned home to North Dakota. Her family operated The Duffy’s Drive-In in Kenmare, ND. She worked there as a cook and waitress. This is where she would go on to meet Edward “Ed” Harold Hanson. They were united in marriage in Kenmare, ND on November 20th, 1968. They made their home in Kenmare and eventually built and moved into the home of their dreams on 6th Avenue. Ed passed away in 1989. Years later she met Lavern Schott and spent time with him, dancing and traveling, and many other adventures. He passed away in 2014.
Carol enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, and dancing. She was always bringing a homemade treat to her children and grandchildren. Carol enjoyed attending various school events and things that her grandchildren were in. Things we will cherish about her are her wild and colorful fashion sense which included a collection of various hats and accessories and the many stories that were told including the guidance to her grandchildren about life lessons. We will miss her always having time for anyone, the love that she shared with all of us, and the love you to the moon and more.
Carol is survived by her sons, Corey (Nikki) Hanson and Kevin (Mary) Hanson; daughter, Becky (Mark) Sherlock; grandchildren, Jenny Hanson, Kaylee Hanson, Wyatt Hanson, Kyle Hanson, Hunter Hanson, Cierra Hanson, Brayden Hanson, Camry Hanson, Tyler Sherlock, Sarah Sherlock, and Bryan Sherlock and bonus grandchild, Michael Fleck; sisters, Arliss Hidalgo, Ruth (Ike) Gefroh, and Ruby (Joel) Rathbun; numerous nieces and nephews and all those also who were her close friends and shared in her life.
