Beatrice Helen (Kuntz) Schmaltz, the daughter of Martin and Magdalena (Bischoff) Kuntz, was born in south Pierce County, ND on October 20, 1935, and passed away peacefully at the age of 90 surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Heart of America Living Center.

Beatrice is survived by her eight children: Kenneth (Linda) of Rugby; Shirley Laugeness of Dilworth, MN; Marvin Schmaltz; Cynthia Schaan and Lori (Steve) Schneider, all of Rugby; Duane Schmaltz of Devils Lake; Karla (Rick) Larson of Rugby; and Darlene (Chad) Kleinknecht of Jamestown; as well as her 22 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 27 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner with lunch and fellowship to follow in the church basement. Burial will take place in the spring at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with rosary, vigil prayer service and sharing beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.
