Milton “Mike” Guy, 96, Minot, died Tuesday, February 3, 2026 in a Minot nursing home.
Mike was born September 9, 1929, in Minot, North Dakota to Raymond and Rose (Swehla) Guy. He attended School in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1947. Following graduation, he started work at the Minot Supply Company.
Mike enlisted into the US Army on September 8, 1948. While serving his country, he attended Minot Teacher’s College in 1949. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged on June 5, 1952.
Milton was united in marriage to Adeline Leischner on August 16, 1952 in Sydney, MT. They made their home in Minot and were blessed with four children.
Mike joined Great Northern Railroad, now Burlington Northern Railroad in 1952. He served the company faithfully as a locomotive engineer, retiring in 1991 after 39 years of faithful service.
He was a member of the Minot American Legion, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and NARVE. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and devoted member of the Military Order of the Cootie (within VFW).
He valued time spent at their cabin on Lake Metigoshe over the years and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mike will be remembered as a collector of coins, antiques and his long time hobby of salvaging scrap metal. Mike will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to share in his life.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Adeline, Minot; children Lynn Rogelstad, Minot, Ray Guy, Mesa, AZ, Ronald (Pamela) Guy, Minneapolis, MN and Mark (Sheila) Guy, Minot, ND; grandchildren Erik Rogelstand, Isaac (Marisa) Rogelstad, Daniel Guy, Michael Guy, Steven Guy, MacAllan (Emily) Guy, Mitchell (Molly) Guy, Marshall Guy, Lyndon (Alycia) Coutts and Shanda Guy; great grandchildren Malin and Soren Coutts, Henry Guy and Addie Rogelstad along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Hostetter and son-in-law Ron Rogelstad.
Celebration of Life for Milton ‘Mike’ Guy: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot Visitation: Monday, February 9th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
