Linda Liebelt, 78, Minot, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at Edgewood Memory Care.
Linda Ann Johnson was born on Oct. 28, 1947, to Antone and Lillian (Wick) Johnson. She graduated as co-valedictorian of Columbus High School and earned degrees in English and Elementary Education from Minot State University. While in college, she met the love of her life, Vance Liebelt, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Linda taught high school English in Velva and later at Longfellow and Sunnyside Elementary Schools in Minot until her retirement. She especially loved being a mother and grandmother, treasuring time with her family and creating beautiful gifts through sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting.
She is survived by her husband, Vance; daughter, Velvet Schmidt (Jim), Bismarck; son, Layne Liebelt (Tammy), Minot; grandchildren, Darby Lipatov (Kirill), Zac Schmidt, Kayla Liebelt and Austin Liebelt; and extended family.
Visitation: Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Celebration of Linda’s Life: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Our Redeemer’s Church, Minot, ND. A recording of the service will be available on the funeral home website.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred in Linda’s honor to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church.
