Dunseith
Edmund Walter, age 86 of Dunseith, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 near Dunseith doing what he loved, farming. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Edmund Walter Jr was born on April 1, 1939, to Edmond Sr and Cecilia (Hackman) Walter on a farm north of Dunseith. He was their second child, and they always called him Junior. He attended country school and also worked for area farmers. He met his wife Bonnie England and they were married on October 6, 1961. They moved to Minot and he worked construction during the building of the Minot Airforce Base. They later returned to the farm where they raised wheat, barley and milked 11 cows and sold the cream for income. Bonnie worked at San Haven and would come home and help milk the cows and separate the cream.
Edmund “Junior” had a knack for fixing tractors and cars. In his later years, he liked going to parades and car shows. He liked the older equipment and cars.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Walter of Dunseith; son, Benjamin (Ben) Walter of Dunseith; 2 daughters Patsy Mogk of Bottineau and Pamela Walter of Dunseith; sister, Erna Pederson of Minot, Linda (John) Zurflue of Spanaway WA, sister, Kathy (Dennis) Wells of Sterling, IL; grandchildren, Joshua Mogk, Jamie Mogk and great-granddaughter, Julian Gottbreht.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
