Lorraine Gimble, 101, Minot died on Friday, January 9, 2026 in a Minot hospital with her loving family at her side.

Lorraine Josephine was born on August 28, 1924 on the family farm in Eureka Township of Ward County near Minot, ND to Jens and Josephine (Susak) Anderson. She was raised on the family farm, educated in a one room country school and graduated from Minot High School in 1942. As a young adult Lorraine was employed in the office of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Lorraine moved to Long Beach, CA in 1943 and was employed at the Los Angeles Port of Embarcation. She returned to Minot in 1946 and was employed at the Truax-Traer Coal Company until 1969.

Lorraine married William “Bill” Gimble on May 28, 1952 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot where Lorraine was employed by the Soo Line Railroad from 1969 until 1990 and Bill was a partner in the ownership and operation of Chateau Lanes Bowling Alley and owned and operated Dakota Construction. They moved to their dream home in the country in 1973.

Lorraine retired in 1990. Bill died on November 8, 2017, but Lorraine had continued to reside in her home.

Lorraine was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church – Minot and a former member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church – Minot. Also, she was a volunteer for the Pet Therapy Program at the Souris River Animal Shelter. She especially enjoyed bowling for fifty years and traveling with a trip to Rome being a highlight. Also, she was fond of being outdoors especially flower gardening as well as attending her granddaughter’s school activities.

Lorraine is survived by her niece and nephew who Lorraine and Bill raised as their children: Janet Hendershot of Minot and Jim Watts of Arlington, VA; grandchildren: Amy (Kevin) Ripley, Jeline Watts (Sam) Clark and Will Watts; great grandchildren: Bella and Sofia Ripley and special friend: Jim Hendershot,

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Deloris Bacon.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, January 16, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church – Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation: Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 in the funeral home.

Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church or the Souris Valley Animal Shelter.
