Lorna Johnson, 86, Minot, died Friday, January 9th, 2026 in a Minot hospital.
Lorna Jean Rassmusson was born January 20, 1939 in Kenmare, ND. She went to school in Donnybrook, ND where she met LeRoy Johnson. She married LeRoy and they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary in July.
Lorna worked in Retail for many years until transitioning to a full-time position helping LeRoy on the family farm. She often drove the grain truck and assisted LeRoy in various farming tasks. In addition to farming, she was very active as a mother to Carol, Larry, and Wayne, and a supportive grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In her free time, Lorna preferred to be with family and friends. She loved to bake and shared with many her scotcheroos, Hershey bar cookies, and infamous Christmas punch. She dearly enjoyed her friendships.
Lorna was a great role model for her family. She was humble and generous. She was sincere in her ways, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and kindness. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Lorna’s loving family includes: her husband of 70 years, LeRoy; children: Carol Giangrasso, and Wayne (Cali) Johnson; daughter-in-law: Becky Johnson; grandchildren: Michael Giangrasso, Jared Giangrasso, Amanda Johnson, Ashley (Brandon) Nordstrom, Drew Johnson, Lucas Johnson, and Jenny Reader; great-grandchildren: Kendlee and Slade Nordstrom; along with 2 brothers, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Lorna is reunited with: her parents, Herman and Miena (Iverson) Johnson; brother, Alan; son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Terri, and grandson, Chris.
A private family service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Friends are invited for a gathering and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Staybridge Suites in Minot on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church of Minot.
