Gary DesLauriers

June 29, 1933 – Jan. 17, 2026

Minot

Gary Eugene DesLauriers, 92, Minot, formerly of Sherwood, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at a Minot hospital.

He was born June 29, 1933, on the family farm near Sherwood, to Henry and Ida (Littlejohn) DesLauriers. He was raised on the family farm west of Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1951. He was once married to Janee Williams.

Gary farmed for many years in Prosperity Township, Renville County. He started farming with his father, Henry, working the fields and livestock at a young age and later continued with his son, David. Working from sunup to sundown was common with never a complaint. It was what he did to get the job done.

Gary married Jennie Bruner on March 20, 1992. They resided in Minot and he continued farming until he was in his eighties. Gary was a former member of St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood, where he served on the church council, and currently a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. He drove a school bus for Sherwood School for many years, served on the Farmers Union Elevator Board, and on the Prosperity Township Board. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and Moose where he enjoyed dancing.

Gary enjoyed pulling his kids water skiing on several area lakes and attending the sporting events of his grandkids, both locally and out of state. While he had many accomplishments throughout his life, he considered his greatest achievement to be his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he was immensely proud of each one of them. Through his love, faith, and example, he leaves behind a lasting legacy that will live on for generations.
