Susan Marie Weiser was born January 18, 1942, the daughter of Philip and Janette (Young) Weiser, in Rugby, ND. She was raised and educated in Hazelton, graduating in 1959. Following high school, Susan attended NDSU, graduating with a degree in Home Economics, working for the Extension Service in Williston for 2 years.
Susan married Arnold “Arnie” Erickson May 8, 1966, in Hazelton, ND. They made their home on the Erickson family farm and were blessed with three children, Peggy, Todd, and Arlo. Family was incredibly important to Susan. She loved spending time with her family. Getting to see the grandkids and the greats always brought her joy. We called her Grandma Great. She learned how to make the favorite Norwegian recipes, lefse and lutefisk, to celebrate holidays. Arnie passed away June 6, 2020.
She was a member of Spring Lake Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas, the Max Rodeo Club, the Douglas Nifty Fifty and the Friendly Neighbors homemaker club.
Susan enjoyed sewing and crafting and made many wonderful gifts. She spent many years serving as a dedicated 4H leader and worked numerous years in the 4H building at the ND State Fair. All animals loved her; she could nurture any animal back to health. Susan did contract sewing at home, worked at a local sewing shop and loved all the babies at a local daycare in Minot until her retirement at the age of 72.
Susan will be remembered for her quick wit, kind heart, and generous spirit. She will be greatly missed.
