Melroy Kallberg

Nov. 3-1947-Nov. 4, 2025

Dent, Minn.

Melroy Ray Kallberg, 78, of Dent, Minnesota, passed away on November 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Mel was born on November 3, 1947, in Flaxton, North Dakota, to Carl and Marie (Kostad) Kallberg. He grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from high school in Flaxton, where he formed lifelong friendships and learned the values of hard work and integrity that would guide him throughout his life. Mel married Vicki (Rykken) Kallberg on November 30, 1968, and together they raised their daughters, remaining tied through family even after their marriage ended.

Mel started his career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber and later worked for Graham Tire for many years. Over the course of his long career in the tire and auto service business, Mel earned the respect of colleagues and customers through his steadiness, fairness, and pride in doing things the right way. He also believed in contributing to the communities where he lived, participating for many years in organizations such as the Jaycees in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and the Elks Club in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The friendships he built through these groups became a meaningful part of his life.

Mel cherished time spent with friends, especially the many evenings gathered around a card table. Playing cards brought him laughter, camaraderie, and a chance to unwind with people he cared about. In quieter moments, he also enjoyed simple time outdoors often fishing or taking in the peacefulness of nature.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Paul) Christensen and Tina (Jason) Reed; his significant other, Linda Bringelson; his grandchildren, Hamund, Raynor, and Anders Christensen, and Joseph and Meghan Reed; his brother Laverne (Bonnie) Kallberg; his sister Connie (Kallberg) Huff and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Vicki (Rykken) Kallberg, mother of his children.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie Kallberg, and his brothers Keith, Dean, and Allen Kallberg.

Mel will be remembered for his strength, his work ethic, his loyalty to the people in his life, and the warmth he brought to family gatherings and friendships alike. His presence will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
