Mary Dahl

Jan. 2, 1944- Dec. 5, 2025

Plymouth, Minn.

Mary Phyllis Cowger Dahl, 81, Plymouth, MN, Golden Valley, MN, Burlington, ND, and Park River, ND, passed away on December 5th at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mary was vibrant, caring, resilient, charming, and she treasured her family and friends.

Mary was born January 2, 1944, in Park River, ND. She is survived by her loving husband of 60+ years, Jorgen Dahl, their four children, Terri, Maple Grove, MN, Todd (Christine) Eden Prairie, MN, Jared (Karen) Burnsville, MN, and Jason (Stacey) Eden Prairie, MN, — their eleven grandchildren, her seven siblings living and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Dr. Phyllis W. Cowger, her father, Dr. W. E. Cowger, and five siblings.

Mary graduated from Park River High School and attended the University of North Dakota, earning degrees in English, PE, Secondary, and Elementary Education.

Mary’s career was spent teaching High School English and Elementary school, primarily in the Minot, N.D. area, and she cherished every minute. When she and Jorgen retired, they moved to Minneapolis to be near their children. She loved spending time with her family. She was a voracious reader, and her time at the lake with family was her favorite time of the year. She was fond of traveling, working puzzles, watching Fighting Sioux Hockey, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Celebration of life and service information will be provided at a later date. www.gearty-delmore.com

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the DR. Phyllis W. Cowger Scholarship, Park River, ND, the Jane Cowger Nursing Scholarship, Lake Region CC, Devils Lake, ND, or Mayo Clinic cancer research.
