Des Lacs
Nina Lee Emery, born on September 5, 1946, in Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 6, 2025 in Minot, North Dakota.
She was born Nina Lee Fenderson in Bakersfield, CA, the daughter of Dr. Wayne and Gertrude Fenderson. She was raised and educated in Bakersfield and graduated from Ozark Academy in Siloam Springs, AR, in 1965. Nina continued her education at Southwestern Union College in Keene, TX, Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, TN, and La Sierra College in Riverside, CA, where she majored in Nursing and Business Administration.
Nina met her first husband, Thomas Logan, in the spring of 1968 and they married in the fall of 1968. Together, they had their daughter Lisa in 1977.
Nina had a lengthy career as an administrative medical secretary. Most memorably, she worked for Adventist hospitals in Kentucky and Georgia, and Kern Medical Center in California where she retired. It was here that she met Wayne Emery and they were married on March 22, 1998.
After retiring, they returned to North Dakota and lived in Minot for a year before moving to Des Lacs, where she had lived since. She enjoyed summers at the family cabin on Strawberry Lake and spoiling her granddaughters. Nina was a part of the Seventh-day Adventist Faith. She played organ and piano for many years for various services and special events.
Nina was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering love for God. Her passing has left a hole in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We remember her by the way her life was lived, and for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Nina is survived by her brother Ernie Fenderson, daughter Lisa (Gary) Pickett, and stepson Kirt (Sally) Emery. She was the cherished grandmother of Jasmine, Jaelyn (Conner), Kevin (Megan), Kyler, and Katharina. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Wayne and Gertrude Fenderson, sister Lynda, first husband Tom, second husband Wayne, and a stepdaughter DeLite.
