Lauren Larson, 89, Minot, died Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in a Minot nursing home.

Lauren was born August 12, 1936, in Minot, ND to Lawrence and Marian (Wastwett) Larson. He grew up in Voltaire and graduated from Velva High School with the Class of 1955.

Lauren was united in marriage to Mavis Bergstad on May 10, 1958, in Voltaire. They made their home on a farmstead in Lebanon Township of McHenry County until moving to Minot in 1961.

Lauren went to work for Central Power working at the William J. Neal Plant for five years. While he was laid off in the summertime, he worked between Keaney Electric Company out of Minneapolis and Souris River Telephone (SRT) at the Minot Air Force Base, and Krebsbach Implement Dealership in Velva. He became the Customer Relations Coordinator in the office at SRT in 1980. He also held positions as a Marketing and Safety Coordinator. He retired in 1998.

Lauren was a former member of Augustana Lutheran, where he was active on the church council and was a current member of Christ Lutheran in Minot. He also belonged to the Elk’s, Eagles, Swedish Society and Sons of Norway all in Minot. Lauren also served as a Cub Scout Leader, President of the Hooterville Flyin Lions and was a member of the Apprentice and Safety Committee for the ND Telephone Company.

He found solace in time spent outdoors farming, hunting and fishing. Lauren enjoyed the adventures in Louis Lamour books, traveling and camping with his family particularly the special trip Mavis and him traveled to Norway and Sweden to visit family. He loved a good card game, especially if he was playing pinochle with his pinochle group which he proudly started.

Lauren will be deeply missed.

Lauren is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mavis, Minot, ND; children Lori (Richard) Nelson, Minot, ND and Bruce Larson, Minot, ND; grandchildren Natasha (Jeremiah) Johnson, Junction City, KS and Tony (Tessa) Grabow, Minot, ND; great-grandchildren Xavier Johnson and Kaitlynn Johnson, Junction City, KS; brother Gerald Larson, Voltaire, ND and brothers-in-law Ernest (Jeannie) Stordahl, Conrad, MT and Wayne (Lucy) Bergstad, Bergen, ND; nieces and nephews.

Lauren was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loretta Stordahl and sister-in-law Betty Larson.

Interment: Hjerdal Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Voltaire, ND

Visitation: Wednesday, December 3rd from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Christ Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway and Hjerdal Lutheran Church Cemetery.
