Joseph M. Senger, 85, of Minot, ND, died Saturday, October 25, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
Joe was born on May 21, 1940, to Adam and Elizabeth (Streifel) Senger in Richardton, ND. He was raised on a farm in Dodge, ND.
Joe married Marlene Schettler on January 2, 1962 in Manning, ND. They had four sons Joe, John, Jerry and Jay.
Joe married Judith (Mahoney) Travis on November 9, 1975. She had three children Joe, Janet and Jackie. Together they had a son, Justin. They made their home in Minot until moving to Arizona for a time. They returned to Minot in 2023.
Joe spent his early years as a heavy equipment operator. He was employed at Cenex and then Glen Harold Coal Mine in Stanton. He moved to Minot and was the shop manager at Schatz Truck Stop and then Cenex until retirement.
Joe was a kind soul with a big heart, always willing to help others. His focus was always on family and friends. He especially enjoyed playing pinochle and always loved a good joke. His smile and playful manner will be missed.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years Judy, children Joe (Jerri), John (Tina), Jerry (Carla), Jay, Justin, Joe Travis and Janet (Ron) Kruckenberg, siblings Mary Ann (Ronnie) Flath and Dave (Jean) Senger, many grandchildren and great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jacquelynn Schutt, and siblings Eva (Roy) Leidholm, Leona (Myron) Kerzman and Larry Senger.
Joe faced his long illness with a smile and a joke; he reminded us every day that hope and humor can outlast any diagnosis.
Liturgy of the Word Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. A gathering to celebrate Joe’s life will follow at The Pub in the ND State Fair Center.
Interment: Dodge, ND at a later date.
Visitation: Friday, November 7th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
