Merlin Gandrud

Racine, Wis.

Merlin Howard Gandrud, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born in Stanley, North Dakota, on July 22, 1940, second surviving child of the late Gilbert and Hertha (nee: Arndt) Gandrud.

Merlin was united in marriage to his beloved wife, the late Jean M. Halden, on September 2, 1962. He spent his professional career as an accomplished agricultural engineer, designing lawn equipment for which he secured several patents. Merlin was a dedicated worshiper at Grace Church and served as an inspirational example of strong faith for many family members and friends.

Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister Darlene Anderson. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lori (Daniel) Rennock; son, Michael (Lisa) Gandrud; grandchildren: Bethany, Keith, Abigail, and Matthew; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating Merlin’s life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church, 3626 Hwy 31, Racine, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment will be private.
