Darlene Bernsdorf, 94, of Minot, North Dakota passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Darlene Jessie Mae Krause Bernsdorf was born on February 11, 1931 in Sherwood, ND to Daniel and Nellie (Neubauer) Krause. Darlene lived a long and meaningful life marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She married the love of her life, Howard Bernsdorf in 1948, and together they raised six children. Darlene was known for her generosity, quick wit, love for baking, and love for all her family. She was the heart of our family, the kind of woman whose strength carried generations. She created a home where all felt welcome and loved deeply, giving of herself in every role, as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was fiercely independent, endlessly giving, and deeply rooted in love, Darlene was the foundation on which many of us leaned.

She is survived by: Children: Jacqueline (Robert) Field, Reon (Jackie), Terry (Karen), Carol (Ron) Boen; Grandchildren: Mitchell Field, Marisa Field, Amy Block, Chad Bernsdorf, Tawnya Bernsdorf, Ashley Regier, Alison Hafer-Gandalfo, Christian Hafer, Shannon Berens, Jessica Pratt, Justin Bernsdorf, Jaime Wickard, Elizabeth Morris; Great Grandchildren: Penelope Field, Sofia Field, Matthew Block, Dillon Block, Zachary Block, Brynn Bernsdorf, Navae Bernsdorf, Everette Regier, Wells Regier, Elijah Prough, Shaylin Prough, Jinnie McCann, Kinsley Pratt, Kirstin Bernsdorf, Keena Bernsdorf, Josephine Wickard, Isaac Wickard, Ella Morris; Siblings: Nancy Wherley and Avis Ethan; Sisters-In-Law: Clarice Bernsdorf and Inge Krause; Long-time friend: Marlene Molzahn and many close family and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Nellie & Daniel Krause, husband Howard Bernsdorf, sons: Kevin and Vaughn “Flip” Bernsdorf, grandson Robert Field II, brother Dahlen Krause and sisters: Della Bechtold, Delia McLain and Lila Marsden.

A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held on October 14 at 11:00 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church-Minot.

Visitation: October 13, 2025 from 5-7 pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home- Minot. Interment: Rosehill Cemetery-Minot.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Vincent United Methodist Church in Darlene’s memory.
