Marcy Hansen, 85, rural Ryder died on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in her home with her loving family at her side.

Marcy Julia Hansen was born on August 8, 1940, in Rugby, ND to Cornelius “Pat” and Louise (Warner) Batema. She was raised in Rugby, graduated from Rugby High School in 1958 and received her Standard Teaching Certificate from Minot State Teachers College in 1960. She taught elementary school in Parshall and Ryder.

Marcy married Kermit Hansen on June 28, 1964, at Parshall Lutheran Church. They made their home on the Hansen Family Farm and Ranch in Vang Township of Ward County, north of Ryder, ND and were the proud parents of Kevin, Kari, Loren and Lynae.

Marcy was an active member of Rose Valley Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide. She also served as the 4-H Superintendent for static exhibits for the North Dakota State Fair and Secretary of Vang Township. Marcy especially enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, knitting/crocheting, picking berries, playing piano, and making donuts for the annual bizarre at Rose Valley Lutheran Church. The highlight of Marcy’s later years were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marcy’s loving family includes her husband of 61 years: Kermit; children: Kevin (Liz) Hansen, Kari (Kelly) Nygaard, Loren (Karen Garwood) Hansen and Lynae (Greg) Hansen-Lardy; grandchildren: Wyatt (Sarah) Hansen, Hadlie (Jordan) Eskew, Jacob (Jinny) Lardy, Jarrett (Krista) Lardy, JaeLyn (Adam Elletson, fiancé) Lardy, Ty Nygaard, Taylor (Dawson) Fitzpatrick; twelve great grandchildren; siblings: Una Couch, Carol Thompson, Lyle Batema, Lorrie Adams, and Linda Cooney as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law: Cody Hansen, grandson: Braxton Hansen; siblings: Janet, Clara, Joyce and Lynn, as well as numerous in-laws.

Prayer Service: Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in Rose Valley Lutheran Church – Rural Des Lacs.

Visitation: Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Rose Valley Lutheran Church.

Memorials are preferred to the following charities: Rose Valley Lutheran Church Memorial Fund; North Dakota 4-H Foundation, CHI Home Health and Hospice, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
