Kyong Kacsmar, 70, Minot, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in her home.

Kyong Suk Choe was born on July 11, 1955 in Chilsok-dong, South Korea, one of four children born to Chong Chol and Yon Ae Kim. She was raised with her siblings in South Korea.

On August 24, 1976, Suk was united in marriage to Leonard Kacsmar while he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in South Korea. Leonard was stationed at the Minot Air Force Base later that year. They settled in Minot, ND where they raised their family. In 1981, Suk proudly received her United States Citizenship. She was a homemaker, raising the couple’s children.

Suk enjoyed doing handiwork including knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch. She also loved playing Bingo and visiting casinos when the opportunity presented itself. When her grandchildren were born they became the center of her universe and she loved spoiling them as often as possible.

Suk is survived by her husband, Leonard; daughters: Karen Kacsmar; and Theresa (Nathaniel) Buynak; two grandchildren, Declan and Quinlan Buynak; three siblings living in South Korea; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Suk was preceded in death by her parents and three month old son Leonard Jr.

Visitation: Monday, August 11, 2025 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 1 pm at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
