Jay Washek, 60, Minot and formerly of Kenmare, died Sunday, August 10, 2025, in his home.
Jay William Washek was born on January 9, 1965, in Kenmare, ND, to William “Bill” and Janice “Kitty” Washek. He was baptized and confirmed at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare.
Jay graduated from Kenmare High School in 1983. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and he was crowned the Homecoming King in 1982. Jay was also a proud member of the Lake Metigoshe Club de Skinautique Waterskiing Team.
Jay continued his education at Wahpeton State School of Science where he earned his welding certification. He took his talents out to the oil field and to various construction sites.
Jay is survived by his mother: Kitty Dill; son: Jaycob (Peyton); daughter: Alexis Branson; grandchildren: Aislynn and Ayla; sister: Tawny Quist and a niece and 3 nephews.
Jay was preceded in death by his father: Bill Washek and stepfather: Glenn Dill.
At his request no funeral is planned. Cremation has taken place, and his cremains will be buried in the family plot in Lakeview Cemetery in Kenmare.
