Janice Ilene Schmidt, 81, Minot, formerly of Mohall, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at a Minot assisted living facility.

She was born Nov. 30, 1943, in Omemee, to Everett and Florence (Hasenwinkel) Schultz. She was raised in that area and graduated from Bottineau High School.

Janice married Dennis Schmidt on Feb. 24, 1963. They lived on the family farm near Mohall. Janice worked at the Paragon Cafe, and later served for 24 years as the head cook at the Good Samaritan nursing home, both in Mohall.

Janice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley, and the LWML. She enjoyed baking, sewing, word finds, crossword puzzles and following the activities and sporting events of her children and grandchildren.

Family: husband of 62 years, Dennis Schmidt, Minot; children, Wayne (Kathy) Schmidt, Manhattan, Kan., Lynn (Ardelle) Schmidt, Tanya Schmidt, and Chad (Andria) Schmidt, all of Mohall; grandchildren, Mathew (Austin), Michael (Brittany), Tyrell (Klesa), Madison, Lainey, Wyatt (Janie), Garrett, and Hallie (Colton); great-grandchildren, Leo, Layn, Kory, Remy, Sophia, Landon, Charlie and Presley; sister, Doris Lenno, Bismarck; brothers, Jay Schultz, of Ariz., and Jeff Schultz, Upham; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janice was preceded in death by: her parents, Everett and Florence Schultz; and siblings, Gloria Nickelson, Connie Sivertson, Kenny Schultz, Duane Schultz and Dennis Schultz.

Funeral: 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.

Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery.

Sharing of Memories service (Open to the public): 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the church in Mohall.

Visitation: Friends may sign the guestbook on Friday, two hours prior to the service at the church.
