Gordon “Gordy” Lawson, 62, Minot, passed away Tuesday, August 19, in his home.
Gordy was born on Dec. 26, 1962 to Jack and Matilda Lawson in Kenmare. He was raised on the family farm in Aurelia. He graduated from Donnybrook High School in 1981.
He attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton and took up welding. Then he went to Jackson Hole, Wyo. and worked at a company driving a hot shot vehicle, serving an oil company. Then from there he went to Las Vegas as a craps dealer in a casino. He came back to Minot in 1992 and that’s when he drove a delivery truck for Schwan’s.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to family gatherings. He enjoyed the outdoors, his walks and motorcycle rides.
Gordy is survived by his parents – Jack and Matilda Lawson; sisters and brother-in-laws – Darla (John) Kohler, Deb (Jay) Johnson, Brenda (Jim) Schuer and Karen (Dean) Peterson and several aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Gordy was preceded in death by his brother Duane, grandparents Gordon and Maybelle Lawson and Henry and Evelyn Knutson and many uncles and aunts and cousins.
He requested to have a private family gathering.
