Edith Joan “Edie” (Bechtold) Lade, 74, of Minot, ND, passed away August 22, 2025, at Trinity Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.
Born February 3, 1951, in Minot to Bennie and Velma Bechtold, she graduated from Minot High School in 1969. In 1974, she married Daniel Lade. Together they farmed near Karlsruhe on their Lazy Owl Ranch and operated Edie Seeding Service, while raising four children.
She will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, and creativity, expressed through her cooking, quilting, gardening, and love of books. Her greatest joy was her seven grandchildren.
Edie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Daniel; children, Roland (Sharon Boeshans), Carl (Jennifer Entzel), Jennifer (John) Illich, and Sara Lade; grandchildren, Alexandria, Josa, Olivia, Sophia, Hunter, Katelyn, and Isabella; siblings, Gail (Dan) Spilovoy, Laurel (Vern) O’Brien, Beverly (Jim) Anderson, and Jerry (Elvira) Bechtold.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Bechtold; and brothers-in-law, John Lade and Wade Lade.
No funeral service. Burial at Emmanuel Cemetery, north of Minot.
