Judy Gill

March 3, 1941-July 27, 2025
Minot
Judy A. Gill, 84, Minot, died Sunday, July 27, 2025, in a Minot assisted living facility.
Judy was born March 3, 1941, in Selma, Alabama to David Dobbins and Sally (Lowery) Whetstone. She began her life on the family farm, but spent her high school years in Atlanta Georgia, graduating from Chamblee High School and attended junior college in Alabama.
Judy was once joined in marriage to David L. Gill, Sr. They lived in Alabama for a year welcoming a daughter, Kathy Frances, before moving to South Florida, living in a variety of communities, and adding a son, David (Lee) Gill Jr.
Judy found her niche in this world as a caregiver at the age of 12 when she began assisting in the care of her paternal grandmother. Her love of caregiving eventually developed into a lifelong career of being a home health care aide, working several years in the south Florida area.
Judy moved to Minot in 1997 to be with her daughter Kathy and her family and was employed as an independent contractor, continuing to provide home health care to those in need at Edgewood Vista and other assisted living facilities in Minot. Judy was honored to provide the end-of-life care to many of those she cared for until she retired in 2019.
During her active years, Judy attended Our Savior Lutheran Church of Minot and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star in Hollywood, FL.
She was often found with a book in her hand to pass the time, even in her last days. Judy also never lost her joy in providing support and encouragement to fellow Edgewood residents and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy will be remembered for her charisma and ability to make everyone a friend. She will be missed most by those who called her mom, grandma, and great mama.
Judy is survived by her daughter Kathy (Gregory) Wiggins, Minot; grandchildren Susan (Derek) Kuhnhenn, Megan (Shane) Johnson, Megan Wiggins, Christopher Gayle, and Kaitlynn Wiggins; great-grandchildren Hailey, Caleb, Olivia, Zoey, Brody, Rigby, and Winny; sister Ruth Ann (Clifford) Weedon, Autaugaville, AL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, son David Lee Gill, Jr., sister Connie Whetstone and brothers Henry and David Whetstone.
