Aug 21, 1942-July 17, 2025

Denbigh

John D. “Jack” Kramer, 82, Denbigh, peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Prairie View Inn, Towner, where he had been a resident for the past two years.

Jack was born in Rugby on August 21, 1942 to John and Alyce Kramer and spent the first years of his life without his Dad, who was overseas fighting World War II.

He grew up on his family’s ranch south of Denbigh, where he attended the Denbigh School until the 6th grade, later graduating from Towner High School in 1960.

He and his wife of 61 years, Carole Sue Marshall, were wed in Upham on May 23, 1964. They settled south of Denbigh, raising cattle, sheep, and kids. Jack said that “all he really ever wanted to be was a rancher” and he and his horse, Skeeter, were a familiar sight at the neighboring ranches in the spring when it was time to work calves.

Jack was a tough hand in the rodeo arena, and was crowned the North Dakota Rodeo Association’s state champion bareback rider in 1966 and stayed active in rodeo as a judge for many years.

He served as a brand inspector for the North Dakota Stockmans Association, Denbigh Township clerk, and president of the Towner School Board for many years.

Jack was a member of the NRA, an avid gun collector who loved to load his own ammo. He was proud to have taken two trips to Wyoming to hunt elk.

He was a member of the Faith Lutheran (LCMS) Church in Towner.

Jack is survived by his wife, Carole, and their 5 children – Shawn (Melissa) – Denbigh, Lisa (Scott) Dockter – Denhoff; Reed (Kolette) – Denbigh; Jeff (Misty) – Fargo; and Kurt (Jessica) – Denbigh. He also leaves his sister, Dawn Keyes and her husband Dennis – Bowie, Texas and his brother, Brian and his wife Leeann – Turtle Lake. In addition Jack had 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Jack and Carole Kramer ranch – one mile south of Denbigh (6079 Center Avenue North) on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 2 P.M.
