Joanne Kvale, 66, longtime Minot resident and accountant at Reiten Broadcasting Group died peacefully on Monday in a Minot assisted living facility following a long and courageous battle with kidney disease.
Joanne Kvale was born on Dec 3, 1958 in Minot to Clifford and Sylvia (Wehrman) Kvale. She was baptized and confirmed in Vincent United Methodist Church and attended Minot Public Schools. She graduated from Minot High School in 1977 and received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Minot State University in 1979.
As a high school student Joanne was employed at the Tastee Freez and Dairy Queen. While attending MSU she began her long career with Reiten Broadcasting Group as a part-time employee for KCJB Radio.
She continued as a full-time employee in the Accounting Department of KXMC TV and retired from Reiten Broadcasting Group in 2019 due to health issues.
Most recently, she had resided at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living.
Joanne was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed league bowling for several decades and followed in her mother’s footsteps when it came to sewing and quilting.
Travel was another highlight of her life with ocean cruises and trips, including to Europe, the Mediterranean, Alaska and New York City. These trips were documented by photo albums and refrigerator magnets.
Joanne’s loving family includes her siblings: Kevin Kvale (Lynne Baudin), Burlington WA, and Linda (Bill) Sand; Burlington; brother-in-law: Larry Friedrich of Boonville, Mo, and nephews: Keith, Brian and Matthew Friedrich.
Celebration of the Life of Joanne Kvale: Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church – Minot. A livestream of the service may be accessed by using the link in the website obituary.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.
Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter.
