Bob Thom

Sept. 25, 1928-May 24, 2025
Mission, Texas
Bob Thom, at the age of 96 years, departed this life for his heavenly home, on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Bob was born in Russell, Manitoba, Canada, on September 25, 1928, to William and Effie Thom.
He spent the majority of his working career selling agricultural equipment. He was also a self-taught auctioneer, and spent many years honing his craft, for which he was much sought after.
Bob, Maureen and family moved to Minot, North Dakota, in 1972, where he became the sales manager for Morris Rod Weeder. It was here that Bob became known as “The Mayor of Tillage Village.”
Following the death of his first wife, Maureen, he met and married Fern Officer. After his retirement, Fern and Bob relocated to Mission, Texas, to their beloved Green Gate Grove community. They became active members and participated in many of the events in the park.
Bob spent many hours in his workshop woodworking. He blessed many people over the years by giving away his handiwork.
Bob never wanted to leave Green Gate Grove and, surrounded by family, that is where he passed away.
Bob is survived by his children: Rick (Wendy), Kelly (Dana), Keith, Kathleen (Galen Christianson), daughter-in-law Margaret Thom, Fern’s children, Gloria (Russell Emerson), Dennis Officer, sixteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, wife Maureen, second wife Fern and grandson Jeremy Officer. He was also predeceased by his sister Mary (Frank) Robertson, brothers Jack and Bill (Pearl).
Bob’s family will hold a family interment service on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Friends are invited to visit the family on Thursday, July 10, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Comfort Suites, 601 22nd Ave. SW, Minot.
